Sizing images in Silhouette Studio®

printer friendly

As images are placed (or being drawn or re-sized), the height and width of the image will be displayed alongside the selected image. In this way, the specific measurement can be viewed whenever an image is selected or being created and sized. Any image can be re-sized in the Silhouette Studio® program.

Manually Resizing

The following steps may be taken to manually resize images:

  1. Select the image
  2. Click and drag on any of the corner control points (for proportionate re-sizing) OR click and drag on the side control points (to stretch or squeeze in whichever direction the mouse is being moved)

Specific Resizing

The following steps may alternately be taken to provide a specific re-sized measurement.

  1. Select the image
  2. Go to the Scale icon
  3. Proceed to make any adjustments to the image's height or width
NOTE: You may want to ensure the Lock Aspect Ratio option is checked. This will have the image's measurements remain proportional for the width and height.

Grid Resizing

You may also wish to use the Grid function for easier spatial viewing in regard to sizing.

  1. Right-click on your workspace (as no images are selected)
  2. Select the Show Grid option
  3. Adjust the grid setting in the Grid panel to the right to your liking
  4. Continue to resize the desired image while viewing how it compares to the grid

If you'd rather view your measurements in another unit of measurement (such as centimeters or millimeters):

  1. Go to File menu (PC) or Silhouette Studio menu (Mac)
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Select Measurements
