What is Silhouette Cloud?

The Silhouette Cloud allows for the sharing of personally created images and folder structures between devices.

After updating to the Cloud version of the Silhouette Studio software and the initial syncing of your Silhouette Studio library to the Cloud, an active internet connection is not required for the use of library images.

All content purchased from the Silhouette Design Store, once downloaded, is stored locally on the device.

As in the presently constituted iteration of Silhouette Studio, an internet connection is required to download newly purchased content and to recover (sync) images to a new device. Additionally, an internet connection would now be required to sync changes made to Cloud library structures or to upload/download  personally created content from the Cloud. Any changes made to Cloud Library structures, or uploads initiated, while offline will await an active internet connection to process.

Within the library, there will be sections for the Local User (non-synced) content and Cloud User (synced) content. Upon initial update, any content purchased from the Silhouette Design Store, and their accompanying folders, will be moved into the Cloud User section of the library. Any personally created designs will remain within the Local User section and will not sync unless moved to the Cloud User section.

How-to Setup Cloud

Welcome to the Silhouette Cloud. With our free cloud library feature, you are able to:

  • Easily access your designs on multiple computers
  • Sync up to 1GB worth of non-Silhouette designs (i.e. personally created or purchased elsewhere)
    • A Silhouette Design Store Subscription or Club Silhouette Membership increases this to 5GB

The cloud library feature is included with the software, versions 3.7 or above. The cloud requires internet access only to add your account, download new purchases, or sync any changes with the Silhouette server. It does not require internet access to keep your designs in your library.

To set up the cloud, you will first need to install/update to the newest version of the software: https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software

Once you have installed the newest software you will need to add your cloud account to your library. To do so, please use the steps below.

  1. Open Silhouette Studio®
  2. Select File > Library > Library
    • If a guide shows up to link the cloud, follow those steps
  3. Right-click ([Ctrl]+click for Mac) on Local User
  4. Select Add User
  5. Enter account credentials
  6. You email will appear in the library section

When your account is added to your library, you will be able to access your Silhouette Design Store purchases and any user designs you have uploaded to the cloud. All designs in your cloud library are stored on your computer as well as the cloud server.

Silhouette America’s Cloud Storage is a syncing service rather than a backup service. Files deleted locally will be deleted on the cloud. We strongly recommend users save important and/or valuable files to another location outside of the cloud or local library, or to a third-party backup service.

You are allowed to add your account to a maximum of 5 devices at a time. If you need to remove your account from a device, simply:

  1. Open Silhouette Studio®
  2. Select File > Library > Library
    • If a guide shows up to link the cloud, follow those steps
  3. Right-click ([Ctrl]+click for Mac) on your cloud email address
  4. Select Remove [Email]

Alternatively, you can access your account on the Silhouette Design Store and click on Cloud Devices.

Uploading user designs to the cloud

With our free cloud library feature, you are able to Sync up to 1GB worth of non-Silhouette images (i.e. personally created or purchased elsewhere) to the cloud server. A Silhouette Design Store Subscription or Club Silhouette Membership increases this to 5GB.

To upload user created designs to the cloud, please do the following:

  1. Open desired design in Silhouette Studio
  2. Select File > Save As > Save to Library
  3. Select desired folder underneath your email address
  4. Select Ok to save

Again, each cloud account has a specific amount of storage space on the cloud for user created designs. Purchased designs from Silhouette Design Store do not use the allotted cloud space only user created designs that are saved to the cloud. If you wish to find out how much space you have available/used please do the following:

  1. Go to the Silhouette Design Store
    • File > Silhouette Design Store…
  2. Log into your user account
  3. Select [Your Name] in the upper-right corner
  4. Select Cloud Devices
  5. Check under Storage for amount allowed and how much is used
    • Will also be able to see all the devices with access to your account library
Managing Devices

The cloud allows 5 active devices. Devices include computers, tablets, and smartphones. To register a device with your Silhouette Cloud account, you will simply need to sign-in to the Cloud via the Silhouette Studio software or the Silhouette mobile app from the desired device. You can manage registered devices here, www.silhouettedesignstore.com/my-account/cloud-library

Listed devices can be activated or deactivated by selecting the check-box next to the device. Any active device will sync changes made to the Silhouette Cloud library on another device. Any inactive device will not sync changes made to the Silhouette Cloud library unless made active again.
