Imported image shows odd display in Silhouette Studio®

printer friendly

A raster image (PNG, JPG, BMP) file is opened but displays something odd on screen. This can range from the image being distorted, to being oddly cut apart and shown in bits only, or an image that appears to be scrambled Silhouette logo parts.

This indicates that the file has a higher pixel rate than the default display setting is capable of handling.

Some images may be too large for the Silhouette Studio® program in terms of pixel size. The current maximum that the software can accept is 4096 x 4096px.

The following steps can be taken to resolve the concern:

  1. Open Silhouette Studio®
  2. Go to the File menu (PC) or Silhouette Studio menu (Mac)
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Select Advanced
  5. Select 512x512 under the "Texture division threshold" setting
  6. Click OK
  7. Close and re-start Silhouette Studio®

If the issue is not resolved, please note that some images may be too large for the Silhouette Studio® program in terms of pixel size. The current maximum that the software can accept is 4096 x 4096px. If a larger image is in use, please consider re-saving the image in another raster image editing program at a smaller pixel rate.
