Backing up the library

In order to backup your library, please first determine which version of Silhouette Studio® you are using. The software version information can be found by doing the following:

  1. Open the Silhouette Studio® software
  2. Select the Silhouette Studio® menu (Mac) or Help menu (PC)
  3. Select the option for About Silhouette Studio

The version number will be listed after “Silhouette Studio … Release” and will be in the format 3.X.XXX.

Backing up the User Library in version 3.7.XXX or higher

Please note that any images synced to the Silhouette Cloud should be available for re-download directly from the Silhouette Cloud. A synced Cloud library is indicated by a green check box next to the selected Cloud library.

To back up local user content, please do the following:

  1. Open the Silhouette Studio® software
  2. Select the File menu
  3. Select the option for Library > Library..
  4. Right-click on the Local User library section
  5. Select Export ‘Local User’…
  6. Select your export destination
  7. Select OK

The library export may take some time depending on the size of the library being exported. Please do not shut off your software or allow your computer to go to sleep during this time.

If desired, the same process listed above may be used to backup Cloud library sections.

Backing up the Library in version 3.6.XXX or lower

To back up your library, please do the following:

  1. Open the Silhouette Studio® software
  2. Select the File menu
  3. Select the option for Library > Export Library
  4. Select your export destination
  5. Select OK

The library export may take some time, depending on the size of the library being exported. Please do not shut off your software or allow your computer to go to sleep during this time.
